An Urgent Care Team You Can Trust.

Donald Dixon, MD
Medical Director

DR. DONALD DIXON is a native of Columbus, Ohio and attended Ohio State University for both undergraduate and medical school.

Following post-graduate training at Michigan State University, Dr. Dixon served two years active duty as a U.S. Navy Medical Officer. He then began practice as a specialist in Emergency Medicine at a level I trauma center in Columbus, Ohio, followed by twenty years of Emergency Room Medicine practice in Northern Wisconsin.

“I chose Emergency Medicine as my specialty because of the wide variety of clinical challenges that present daily,” he says. “I like never knowing what situation will present next and find that exhilarating.”

In his spare time, Dr. Dixon enjoys sailing, diving and cycling. “The Keys are a great place to enjoy all of those,” he says.

Dr. Dixon moved to the Keys in 2005 and practiced at Lower Keys Medical Center for five years. For the next three years, he traveled to Milwaukee, Wisconsin each month to practice with a group of Emergency Physicians providing care at four hospitals in the Wheaton Franciscan Health Care System.

“I am eager to once again practice full-time in the community in which I live,” says Dr. Dixon. “As Medical Director of Advanced Urgent Care of the middle and lower keys, I look forward to the opportunity to ensure that my community will have the best immediate care possible.”

Dave Erlandson, MD

DR. DAVID ERLANDSON was born in Hartford Connecticut, graduated from the University of Connecticut School of Medicine and completed his internship and residency at St. Francis Hospital & Medical Center in Hartford.  He began his work as an emergency physician immediately following his residency, and is still working in emergency medicine three decades later.

“I choose to be an ER physician because I do it well and it makes me happy,” he says.

Having practiced in Connecticut, Washington, DC, Virginia, Kentucky and Florida – starting in Palm Beach County and migrating south – his U.S. 1 journey ended in Key West in 1992. He and wife Larysa have lived here ever since. They now have a 15-year-old son who shares his parents’ passion for international travel.

According to the American College of Emergency Physicians (ACEP), the practice of emergency medicine includes the initial evaluation, diagnosis, treatment, and disposition of any patient requiring expeditious medical care.

“There is an obvious and absolute need in this community for Key West Advanced Urgent Care,” says Dr. Erlandson. “Here, we have the opportunity to surpass any expectations of an urgent care clinic – offering CT scans, ultrasound, an in-house laboratory, and full-time emergency physicians with years of Emergency Room experience.

Kris M. Bly, DO

DR. KRIS BLY has joined Key West Advanced Urgent Care to provide the community the best choice available for immediate health care needs.

“I am pleased to be part of the experienced team of doctors and health care professionals offering this alternative to emergency care in the Keys,” says Dr. Bly.

Dr. Bly grew up in Evansville, Indiana, and did her internship at Westview Hospital in Indianapolis. From there she worked for one year at a small ER in southeast Indiana before attending residency at Doctor’s Hospital in Columbus, Ohio.

She then moved to a larger community hospital in Valparaiso, Indiana, where she was a partner in Unity Physician Group for 10 years. She was certified in emergency medicine by the American Osteopathic Board in 2000.

In 2008, Dr. Bly and her family moved to Key West to open a unique housecall medical service providing urgent and non-emergent medical services to vacationers and locals alike. She returned to the ER scene in 2010, working at Fisherman’s Hospital in Marathon, and then the Lower Keys Medical Center ER in Key West.

Dedicated to her family, Dr. Bly is married to Don, and they have three daughters. The couple is very active in the Grace Lutheran Church and they enjoy traveling, camping, beaching and being part of the Key West community and small town island life.
